In 1994, two brothers, Chris and Robin Sorensen, opened the first Firehouse Subs location in Jacksonville, Florida. The idea for Firehouse Subs came from their years of experience as firefighters. They wanted to create a restaurant that reflected their values of hard work, dedication, and community service.
The Sorensen brothers also wanted to create a menu that would stand out from other sandwich shops. They decided to focus on hot subs, using only the freshest meats and cheeses, and baking their bread fresh every day.
Community Service and the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
As former firefighters, Chris and Robin Sorensen wanted to give back to the community in more ways than just serving up delicious sandwiches. In 2005, they established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding, lifesaving equipment, and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations.
